Whether you’re picking up a guitar for the first time or returning to music after years away, our Philadelphia guitar instructors provide the perfect blend of solid fundamentals and songs you actually want to play. At Rawk U School of Music, we believe guitar lessons should get you playing recognizable music within your first month while building the proper technique that will serve you for life. Our experienced guitar teachers in Philadelphia work with students from age 7 to adult, tailoring each lesson to your musical goals and learning style. From acoustic fingerpicking to electric rock solos, we’ll help you discover the joy and confidence that comes from truly mastering the guitar.
“Music should give people excitement about life. We believe in quality over quantity–rather than rushing students through material, we make sure they’re truly ready for each step while playing songs they love.”

Meet your instructor, discuss your goals, and get a feel for our teaching approach–completely free, no strings attached (pun intended!).
We evaluate your current skill level (even if you’re a complete beginner) and create a personalized learning plan.
Start with 30-minute weekly lessons that fit your schedule–we’re flexible and work around your life to make lessons feel convenient rather than an obligation.
Don’t have a guitar yet? We’ll guide you to the right instrument for your budget and goals (we recommend starting with acoustic for hand strength, but electric works great for younger kids).

My son has been taking electric guitar lessons, and he's doing awesome! His growth has been quick and he loves his lessons. Thanks, Mr. Jessie!Posted on Ty GivensTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I've been learning guitar with Jessie for about 7 months now and it's been a great experience. I've gone from not even knowing how to hold a guitar to being able to play the chords to many of my favorites songs (albeit slowly lol). Jessie seems young but he is a wealth of knowledge. Rawk U is definitely worth a look if you're looking for music instruction.Posted on Emily RossTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Jessica, my extremely supportive and creative voice teacher, is the best there is. Whether you are a child or an adult learning how to sing, she makes it easy and fun. I am lucky to have found such a great teacher. Love Rawk U!!!Posted on MichelleTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Excellent institution which really brings the best out of every student. My daughter loves taking voice lessons with them.
Our signature 6-week program where guitar students join with other instrumentalists to learn and perform songs as a complete band. Must be an active student for at least 6 months and ready for the intensive collaborative experience.
Many guitarists enjoy adding vocals to their performances, creating the classic singer-songwriter combination that’s perfect for our biannual concerts and solo performances.
We typically recommend age 7 and up for Philadelphia guitar lessons. Before that age, most children struggle to properly hold even smaller guitars. However, we evaluate each child individually and will consider younger students on a case-by-case basis during a free trial lesson.
Yes, you’ll need a guitar to bring to your lessons and practice at home. We can guide you to the right instrument–many beginners start with acoustic guitars because the higher string tension builds hand strength, though electric guitars can be easier for younger children to play.
Not at all! Most of our guitar students are complete beginners. Our guitar instructors in Philadelphia meet you exactly where you are and build from there, whether you’re 7 or 70.
With consistent practice (10 minutes daily to start), most students can play recognizable songs within 4-6 weeks. However, practice is crucial for progress–frequency matters more than duration, so daily practice is better than cramming hours at the end of the week.
We typically recommend at least 6 months of lessons before joining our performance programs, though a year is optimal. We never rush students on stage before they’re mentally and technically prepared–quality performances build confidence rather than diminish it.
