Ready to take your musical skills from the practice room to the stage? Grace the Stage is Rawk U School of Music’s signature Philadelphia rock band program where individual musicians come together to learn the art of playing in a band. Over 6 intensive weeks, students ages 10-17 develop the collaboration, leadership, and performance skills that transform solo players into confident band members. These rock band classes in Philadelphia culminate with a live performance at The Fallser Club, complete with professional lighting and sound systems. This isn’t just about music–it’s about building confidence, teamwork, and stage presence that carries into every area of life.
“Once kids jump from private lessons to group classes, there’s a huge acceleration in skill on their instrument. Not only does their playing improve, but their passion for music skyrockets—they become that much more engaged.”

My son has been taking electric guitar lessons, and he's doing awesome! His growth has been quick and he loves his lessons. Thanks, Mr. Jessie!Posted on Ty GivensTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I've been learning guitar with Jessie for about 7 months now and it's been a great experience. I've gone from not even knowing how to hold a guitar to being able to play the chords to many of my favorites songs (albeit slowly lol). Jessie seems young but he is a wealth of knowledge. Rawk U is definitely worth a look if you're looking for music instruction.Posted on Emily RossTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Jessica, my extremely supportive and creative voice teacher, is the best there is. Whether you are a child or an adult learning how to sing, she makes it easy and fun. I am lucky to have found such a great teacher. Love Rawk U!!!Posted on MichelleTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Excellent institution which really brings the best out of every student. My daughter loves taking voice lessons with them.
The backbone of most rock bands, guitar students bring both rhythm and lead elements to Grace the Stage performances. Whether acoustic or electric, guitarists learn to balance melody with the collaborative foundation needed for successful band dynamics.
Bass players are essential to any rock band, providing the rhythmic and harmonic foundation that holds everything together. Bass students in Grace the Stage learn to work hand-in-hand with drummers while supporting the entire musical structure.
Drummers serve as the heartbeat and timekeeper of the band, making them natural leaders in Grace the Stage. Our drum students develop the consistency and communication skills needed to guide their bandmates through every song.
Vocalists bring the lyrics and emotional connection that audiences connect with most directly. Voice students in Grace the Stage learn to perform with confidence while working collaboratively with instrumentalists to create compelling performances.
Keyboard players add harmonic richness and textural variety to rock band performances. Piano students bring both classical foundation and modern versatility to Grace the Stage, often serving as the musical bridge between rhythm section and melody.
Grace the Stage develops essential life skills that extend far beyond music. Students learn leadership skills by taking charge when songs need direction while knowing when to step back and support bandmates. They develop collaboration and teamwork abilities, learning to work toward a common goal and communicate through musical cues and emotional awareness. The experience of successfully performing with others on a professional stage builds confidence that carries into school, work, and social situations.
Absolutely! Students consistently show dramatic improvement in their individual playing after participating in Grace the Stage, with increased engagement and excitement about their instrument. The collaborative environment accelerates musical growth in ways that individual lessons alone cannot achieve.
We look for current students who come to lessons eager to learn, practice regularly, and express enthusiasm about taking their playing to the next level with others. Students must be current Rawk U students for at least 6 months (with case-by-case evaluation for those with significant prior experience), ages 10-17, demonstrate commitment to regular practice and lesson attendance, and receive teacher evaluation confirming readiness for collaborative playing.
All instruments are welcome in our Philadelphia rock band program! Guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, and voice students all learn to work together to create complete band performances.
Grace the Stage runs 3-4 times per year with approximately one month breaks between sessions. Each 6-week program includes weekly 1.5-hour band rehearsals, individual practice assignments, and a final live performance at The Fallser Club. Current students interested in participating should speak with their instructor about readiness and upcoming session availability.
Not at all! Grace the Stage Level 1 is specifically designed for students who have never played in a band before. We teach you everything you need to know about musical collaboration.
We carefully match students based on skill level, age, musical compatibility, and instrument needs to create balanced, successful bands.
Performance anxiety is completely normal! Our 6-week program specifically builds confidence gradually, and you’ll have your instructor and bandmates supporting you throughout the process.
Absolutely! Many students participate in multiple sessions, advancing to Level 2 and continuing to grow their band skills with different groups and songs.
We select popular cover songs that students know and love, ensuring everyone feels connected to the music while learning essential band dynamics.
While individual lessons develop your personal skills on your instrument, our rock band lessons in Philadelphia teach the completely different skillset of playing WITH others–listening, collaboration, and musical communication that can only be learned in a band setting.
